President Boonja Yoo Lee graduated from Taejun Nursing College. She has over five decades of experience in the medical field as a residential nurse in both Korea and America. She has received a multitude of awards and recognitions including Appreciation Plaque from the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare and Merit Award from Assembly California Legislature. She served as President of Southern California Korean Nurse Association, Chairman of board of directors for Korean American Family Service Center. She was CEO of Overseas Korean Nurse Association. She was a founding board member of Global Children Foundation and Korean American Family Services. She received the Magnolia Medal from Republic of Korea and Proud Korean Award from Korean American Leadership Foundation. She founded Somang Society and serves as President.
Rev. Joseph Choi has over ten years of experience in end of life care and grief support in both the hospital and hospice setting: as a chaplain and manager of volunteer and bereavement services. Joseph is a founding board member of OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center Orange County. Also, he is a dynamic speaker who spent years motivating and inspiring audiences to live a healthy and holistic life by teaching the end of life issues and grief. He is responsible for strategic planning, curriculums, and programs at Somang Society.
Ms. Mihye Kim Lee has a Master of Arts in Social Work at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. She worked over 15 years as a Director in the National YWCA of Korea. She served 2 years in KRC in Los Angeles as Senior Organizer and Manager of Operations. At Somang Society, she manages administration and coordinates all events. She is the editor of Somang Magazine.
Rev. ChangGon Kim has a Master of Divinity from The Hapdong Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea. After ordination, he serviced at the Frist Songpa Presbyterian Church in Seoul, Korea, for 4 years. After moving to California, he has been serving for local church for 16 years. He has been served the senior ministry. His compassionate and people-oriented character fits well in the Senior Ministry in listening to the need of the elderly members and proving their needs. He tries to live a life with an end-time focused and heavenly perspective. He manages Los Angeles branch office and coordinates projects from Chad, Africa.
Ms. Sujin Namkung majored in Christian Education and graduated with a Master of Divinity at Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary. She is studying social work at World Mission University. She is a certified dementia practitioner from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Also, she completed education from Alzheimer’s Orange County to facilitate caregiver support groups for dementia. She is responsible for coordinating the Somang Care Class for people who are affected by dementia and managing Somang YouTube channel.
Ms. Jane Lim worked at the Hanmi Bank for over 15 years as a Vice President & Operations Officer. She is a certified dementia practitioner from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Also she completed education from Alzheimer’s Orange County to facilitate caregiver support groups for dementia. She is responsible for accounting and coordinating grant related projects.
